Janine Prinsloo, Director of Investment Growth at Ray White Northern Coast, shares her experience moving to Ailo and how to prepare for the big day – plus a teaser on what's to come in the days that follow!
What was it like coming onto Ailo and learning a new system?
Previous technology that I've used, I've had to teach myself. There hasn't been an onboarding training program facilitated at all, ever. This was the first time I've ever had that experience, which is amazing because you didn't go in blind.
The training and support that Ailo supplies is top notch. We spent a couple of weeks just going through the tutorials. We had a dummy version of Ailo that we could just play around with, and make lots of mistakes, and fix things up and try everything.
So when we did the switch when it came to D-Day, we knew exactly what we were looking at. We knew what the dashboard was meant to do. We knew how to raise a project or start a new management. We weren't going in in the dark, and at no point have we ever felt like we were in the dark.
It should be called Halo, because it really is literally like a light that switches on above your head!
What is your favourite feature that has been released recently?
Oh, there's been so many! I mean, you give feedback to Ailo, and they actually listen. They roll out updates every week based on what users say, so the platform just keeps getting better and better.
This means that we're always up-to-date with what property managers need, and what makes our jobs more efficient.
I think for me, one of the best updates has been the ability for investors to sign in on their PCs. So for owners to be able to use Ailo on their computer now is just such a bonus! It's brilliant.
I had an owner in the boardroom the other day, and we were looking at something to do with her property. And she said to me I haven't uploaded Ailo to my phone yet, because I've got an old phone. And I said to her, “Well, I've got great news for you. Just today I found out that you can sign in on your computer now!”
She was thrilled. Now she has all the benefits of Ailo without having to contact me when she needs something!
I love how Ailo is not trying to put the older generation of investors or tenants into the same box as everybody else. The young people, they'd love to be on their phones, but some people actually just love being in front of their computers. And we're now listening to them, which is great!
You’re a self-confessed Projects addict. How would you sell it to another property manager?

As property managers, time is our most expensive commodity – we just don't have enough of it. And we’re constantly being distracted and pulled in different directions. We're constantly being told there's a call for you or an email comes through and it says urgent.

Did you see the change of ownership project template has dropped today?
I was very excited about it! I know I speak for a lot of property managers when I say that properties on our rental are constantly being sold, and in this current market they're being sold to investors.

New features drop every week! How do you keep on top of it?
I love the weekly emails and pop-ups in Ailo telling us what's new. The new format is great. It’s so compelling, it's fun.
Plus, on the dashboard in Ailo there is a little what’s new button on the left hand side. Love it. I always click on to see what is new, did I miss anything. It’s great!
